Ich bin Musiker, ich komponiere und produziere Musik, schreibe Songs und nehme sie auf, kann das meiste mindestens ein bisschen und habe mir fast alles selbst beigebracht. Ich bin in sehr diversen Genres unterwegs, je nachdem, was mich gerade am meisten interessiert. Wie jeder weiße Cis-Boy in meinem Alter spielte und spiele ich in Indie-Postpunk-Bands mit Shoegaze-Einschlag. Allerdings bewege ich mich auch viel in der experimentellen und auch elektronischen Musik.
Ich arbeite gerne mit Field Recordings, Drones und bearbeiteten Midi-Dateien. Ich glaube an die Handlungsmacht der Rezipient*innen, nutze Kitsch und möglichst einfache Mittel, um der Szene oder dem Projekt das zu geben, was es braucht.
Theatermusik (im weitesten Sinne) ist für mich auch deshalb so spannend, weil ich hier mit meiner merkwürdigen „off“-Musik und meiner Vorliebe für komische, nervige Geräusche gut hinpasse. In meinen bisherigen Arbeiten konnte ich meine ulkigen Pop-Songs schreiben, produzieren und performen. Ich konnte mithilfe digitaler Synthesizer den Klang eines Lüfters nachbauen, Uhren-Ticken in Gewehrsalven verwandeln. Ich konnte einfache und komplizierte Pads und Drones „basteln“, inhaltlich passende Field Recordings derart zerlegen, dass niemand sie je erkennt, oder auch kurz Schauspieler sein. Dabei durfte ich an Proben teilnehmen, mich inhaltlich einbringen und Inszenierungen mitgestalten – meine Klangforschung am offenen Herzen der Produktionen betreiben.
Ich hatte bisher das Glück, vor allem mit Menschen zu arbeiten, die mir einen großen künstlerischen Freiraum ließen, im Grunde ist aber jede Arbeit mit Musik und Theater interessanter als alles andere, das mir bisher untergekommen ist. Und als gut informierter ADHS-ler kann ich Ihnen sagen: Wenn etwas nicht interessant ist, dann haben wir ein Problem.

I am a musician, I compose and produce music, write songs and record them. I can do most things at least a little bit and have taught myself almost all my skills. I am involved in very diverse genres, depending on what interests me the most at the time. Like any white cis boy my age, I played and still play in indie post-punk bands with a shoegaze influence. However, I also delve into experimental and electronic music a lot.
I enjoy working with field recordings, drones, and edited MIDI files. I believe in the agency of the audience and use kitsch and preferably simple means to give the scene or project what it needs.
Theatre music (in the broadest sense) is particularly exciting for me because my strange „off“-Music, my penchant for funny, annoying sounds fit well here. In my previous works, I was able to write, produce, and perform my quirky pop songs. I could recreate the sound of a fan using digital synthesizers, transform clock ticking into bursts of gunfire. I could create simple and complex pads and drones, deconstruct content-appropriate field recordings so that no one would ever recognize them, or even briefly be an actor. In doing so, I was able to participate in rehearsals, contribute to the content, and shape the productions – conducting my sound research at the heart of the productions.
I have been fortunate to mostly work with people who have given me great artistic freedom, but in essence, any work involving music and theater is more interesting than anything else I have come across so far. And as someone with ADHD, I can tell you: If something is not interesting, then we have a problem.
